Building integrated Renewable Energy Sources

The integration of Renewable energy Sources at building level has a high potential to complement the efficient designs of high-performance new buildings in order to achieve low energy districts by reducing the building energy requirements from conventional technologies to a minimum. These building integrated sources allow using local resources, reduce distribution losses and take advantage of the large surface occupied by buildings at district level. The most common examples of Building Integrated Renewable Energy Sources are solar systems in roofs or facades, small biomass boilers or geothermal energy.

E2REBUILD Site London

The Thamesmead demonstration is a linear block of maisonette style dwelling accommodation, built in 1974 and located in South East London (United Kingdom). The building has a concrete frame construction with a mixture of concrete and PVC-U façade panels with non-standard cavity brick infill to some...

E2REBUILD Site Roosendaal

The demonstration in Roosendaal, the Netherlands, consists of 70 identical single family terrace houses build in 1960 in the area of Kroeven. The full upgrade of the Kroeven area consists of 370 houses, of which 246 will be renovated and 112 units will be newly constructed, replacing about 100...

SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE Site Drammen

The final energy demand (Design data) before the interventions has been calculated by the project using the monitoring data. The thermal energy demand after the interventions shown in Figure 1 represents the electrical demand for the heat pump. The geothermal heat extracted from the ground is not...

SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE Site Ballerup

The part F of Hedegaards School, with a building age of more than 35 years, was in need of refurbishment as the roof and the windows were leaky and the thermal insulation of the walls and the attic was insufficient. The electric lighting installations in the corridors were technically obsolete,...

SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE Site Cesena

Key Technical Performance Indicators - results Energy Performance – Thermal Energy The focus for the school in Cesena has been on the reduction of the final energy consumption for space heating. The expected impact was estimated to achieve a total reduction of 84 % for space heating. The domestic...
