Car-sharing

Car-sharing represents a car-rental scheme for people who need only occasional use of a vehicle. The cars are typically owned by a third party, whether a commercial business or democratically controlled company, public agency, cooperative or ad hoc grouping. Some car-sharing schemes may incorporate the use of hybrid, clean and electric vehicle fleets. The application of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) to support car-sharing is considered here.
