Wednesday, November 20, 2019

Barcelona, Spain

The second Project Coordinators Meeting of the Smart Cities Information System was held during the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona on 20 November 2019. The meeting was titled “The new meet the old: collaboration between the mature and the new Smart City Projects”. The 33 meeting participants involved Project Coordinators representing 17 projects (16 SCC01 Lighthouse Projects and 1 FP7 project)and representatives from SCIS, the EIP-SCC Marketplace and the European Commission.

The meeting focussed on commonly faced challenges, such as replication, development of business models and monitoring and evaluation. The latter issue was addressed by the Project Coordinators exploring solutions to focus on the most relevant data that allow for comparison of measures in different contexts. All projects were invited to use an existing framework (e.g. SCIS self-reporting tool) and adopt a common approach to better comprehend the impact of their project. By obtaining comparable data the Projects can have a bigger impact on the Market, while Cities have access to critical information on the replication potential of specific Smart City measures.

During the SCIS Project Coordinators Meeting, also the upcoming merge between SCIS and the EIP-SCC Marketplace was presented. This merge will combine all relevant expertise, lessons learnt and project data from Smart City Projects funded by the EC into a unique, transparent and impartial hub leading to replicable and bankable solutions.
